Block applications on Windows 7 AppLocker

AppLocker is a feature introduced in Windows 7 to allow administrators to block certain applications from running based on their hash, path, or author.

What is the difference between this and other software?

We had already seen software that can block the execution of programs installed. The difference though is that Windows 7 AppLocker is a native, fully integrated into the system.

Consequently, it is not necessary to install any additional software.

On which systems?

AppLocker is available in Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows 7 Enterprise. Other versions of Windows 7 and older systems are not supported.

Getting Started

To do this, type services.msc from Start -> Run .

We will have in front of the list of services installed on your system. Scorriamola until you find the voice Application Identity .

Apriamone properties by double clicking on it.

In the pull-down menu next to Startup Type , select the item Automatic .

We close the window with saving changes Ok and reboot the system.

Ready ..? Go!

Now that we understand what is the AppLocker and which systems we can find it, we can begin to create our own rules.
