Block unwanted content with Internet Explorer 8

Let's see how to delete unwanted ads and links from web pages using an interesting function integrated in the eighth version of the browser Microsoft weblog.

Block unwanted content with Internet Explorer 8

Internet allows us to have access to almost unlimited resources and information, but in recent years, access to what the "Big Network" offers has become increasingly dangerous. This is because of various kinds of malware (viruses, spyware, adware and so on and so forth ...), fake websites that steal personal information (phishing), e-mails that require more or less significant figures with the promise of being rewarded handsomely ... etc.

One of the things are not dangerous but annoying is the massive presence of banner ads on Web sites, usually harmless, but still slow browsing, take up bandwidth, and in 99% of cases are unnecessary.

This article is intended for users of Internet Explorer, Firefox users may have functions similar to those described installing the extension AdBlock Plus

Starting with version 8 of Internet Explorer, Microsoft has implemented a feature once (according to the Redmond company) to prevent a site can "exchange information with other sites," but which in practice eliminates advertising banners and co.

This feature is called InPrivate Filtering, and when properly configured, allows you to block almost completely present in the advertising pages.

InPrivate Filtering feature should not be confused with the homonymous InPrivate Browsing, which is used to surf the web without leaving traces (history, cookies, passwords typed, etc. ...) on the local computer and, unlike the features discussed in this article , does not require any special configuration.

What would happen if

Here is the homepage without MegaLab.it InPrivate Filtering:

And this is the same page after its activation:

Apart from the lack of banner (from the photos you do not see but two of them were animated, and particularly annoying) the page loads very quickly (which is not bad view of the slowness of the Internet Explorer compared to competitors). So "two birds with one stone."

In the next few pages we'll see how to activate and configure InPrivate Filtering and how to avoid display problems that can cause this feature.
